Oxford University Students Experience Spiritual Immersion at Parmarth Niketan Camp During Maha Kumbha Mela

Today, the Parmarth Niketan camp at the Maha Kumbha Mela welcomed a group of 25 students from Oxford University. The students participated in an extraordinary afternoon and evening of spiritual and cultural immersion, experiencing the essence of India’s sacred heritage at the confluence of spirituality and sustainability.

Their visit began with a satsang with Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, who shared profound insights into timeless wisdom of Indian spirituality and the significance of the Maha Kumbha Mela. Through meaningful dialogue, the students explored the relevance of these teachings to contemporary global challenges, including environmental stewardship, international conflict resolution and inner harmony.
The group then joined the sacred Sangam Aarti, the evening prayer ceremony led by Parmarth Niketan at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. They were deeply moved by the divine atmosphere as the devotional chant nd sacred fire offered at the river’s edge created an unforgettable spiritual experience.

The students also had the honor of receiving darshan from Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, President of Parmarth Niketan. Pujya Swamiji shared His inspiring vision of a harmonious world rooted in compassion, interconnectedness, and ecological responsibility. His words resonated deeply with the students, encouraging them to reflect on how spiritual values can guide humanity toward a sustainable and peaceful future.

A significant highlight of their visit was witnessing the eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives at the Parmarth Niketan camp. The camp embodies a model of environmental consciousness deeply aligned with spiritual principles. The students expressed their admiration for how ancient traditions and modern sustainability practices seamlessly converge at Parmarth, creating a space for holistic learning and living.

The visit by the Oxford Centre for Sanskrit Studies underscores the Maha Kumbha Mela’s ability to bring together people from across the globe for a transformative experience of unity, divinity, and sustainability. Parmarth Niketan’s commitment to sharing the timeless wisdom of India with the world continues to inspire all who come to its sacred space.
