Holy Dip in Maa Ganga on Somvati Amavasya

On the sacred occasion of Somvati Amavasya during Adhik Maas, devotees from across India and around the world gathered at Parmarth Niketan to take a holy dip in Maa Ganga and offer prayers for national prosperity, global peace, and the welfare of all beings. The gathering was graced by Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati Ji, Hon’ble Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Shri Bhagirath Choudhary Ji, Dr. Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati Bhagawati Saraswati Ji, and Sant Muralidhar Ji.

HH Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji shared that this rare and auspicious alignment of Somvati Amavasya during Adhik Maas has occurred after 301 years, adding that the greatest blessing is to be present on the sacred banks of Maa Ganga.

Marking World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Pujya Swamiji emphasized the importance of honoring and caring for our elders, describing them as the roots of the family, the conscience of society, and living universities of wisdom and experience. He reminded everyone that a culture which reveres parents as divine must uphold respect, dignity, and care for its senior citizens.

Offering a unique message that linked environmental stewardship with honoring one’s ancestors, Pujya Swamiji introduced the inspiring concept of “Pitru Tarpan – Ped Arpan” (Offer Trees in Honor of Ancestors), encouraging families to plant fruit-bearing trees in memory of their loved ones. He noted that such a movement could create green corridors along the banks of the Ganga, Yamuna, and other rivers while leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

Sant Muralidhar Ji reflected on the ideals of the Shri Ram family, highlighting that Shri Ram’s life remains an eternal example of sacrifice, service, responsibility, and devotion to family values.

Let us resolve to embrace the values of respect, service, compassion, and environmental responsibility, while working together for a greener, more peaceful, and harmonious world.
