Bishnoi Community in Rajasthan Joins Pujya Swamiji in Sacred Tree Plantation Drive

A Sacred Green Mission Begins in Rajasthan

Launch of the grand mission to plant 75,000 trees as Pujya Swamiji enters his 75th year.

In a beautiful confluence of spirituality, environmental stewardship, and compassion for all living beings, the Bishnoi community launched a large-scale tree plantation campaign in the divine presence of Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, President of Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh. Marking Pujya Swamiji’s entry into his 75th year, a collective pledge was taken to plant 75,000 trees, with the first sapling ceremonially planted by Pujya Swamiji.

Addressing the gathering, Pujya Swamiji said, “Trees are not merely a gift of nature; they are the lifeline of future generations. While planting a tree is important, nurturing and protecting it with love and care is an even greater responsibility.” He emphasized that in the face of climate change, rising temperatures, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss, tree plantation and long-term conservation remain among the most effective and sustainable solutions.

Pujya Swamiji paid heartfelt tribute to the Bishnoi community for preserving an ancient culture of living in harmony with nature. Inspired by the timeless teachings of Guru Jambheshwar Ji, the Bishnoi tradition has safeguarded forests, protected the sacred Khejri tree, and cared for wildlife with extraordinary devotion for centuries. Their reverence for blackbucks, chinkaras, peacocks, birds, and countless other living beings reflects the true spirit of Sanatana Dharma and humanity’s harmonious coexistence with nature.

The occasion also commemorated the 100th birth anniversary of Shri Faglu Ram Ji, celebrated through a heartfelt tribute to Mother Earth. His family planted trees in their ancestral village and pledged to plant more than 1,000 Khejri and other native trees, while actively participating in the larger mission of planting 75,000 trees.

The event resonated with powerful environmental commitments as devotees, youth, social leaders, and community members pledged to plant anywhere from one tree to 11,000, 21,000, and even 51,000 trees, transforming the gathering into a movement of collective responsibility for a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future.

Let us all embrace the pledge: “Plant as many trees as the number of years you have lived,” and together nurture a greener, healthier, and more compassionate world for generations to come.
