Today, on the occasion of International Day in Memory of the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief – a day to remind us of those innocent souls who faced persecution and violence due to their religion and beliefs – HH Param Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji shared that “in any nation, there should be no place for violence on the basis of religion or belief. We have to give place in our hearts to love, compassion and tolerance towards all religions and their followers. Indian culture teaches us that God resides in all living beings, so we have to have equal feelings towards everyone. This day reminds us that we have to make continuous efforts to promote peace and harmony in our society. We have to teach the values of tolerance and love to the present and future generations so that they can build a better and peaceful future.”
A beautiful puja and Rudrabhishek was held on the banks of Maa Ganga by the Rishikumars of Parmarth Gurukul, and Pujya Swamiji dedicated the evening’s sacred Ganga Aarti, reminding us that “Indian culture is a culture of unity in diversity, which has respected and honoured various religions and beliefs for centuries. Indian culture contains the values of tolerance, love and compassion. Indian culture teaches us that we should have equal respect and sympathy towards all religions and beliefs. Let us pledge today that we will all work together to promote peace and tolerance in our society. We have to ensure that no person has to become a victim of violence on the basis of his religion or belief. We have to unite and help those who are facing such violence. We will also have to make efforts to get them justice.”
