Shri Ram Navami — A sacred festival celebrating the ideals of righteousness, courage, and patience
“The mere remembrance of ‘Ram’ brings peace to the mind.” – Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji – Muniji
The sacred festival of Shri Ram Navami is a divine expression of Indian culture, Sanatan traditions, and eternal values of dharma. It is not just the celebration of the birth of Lord Shri Ram, but also a blessed opportunity to imbibe the virtues of righteousness, truthfulness, courage, patience, and compassion that defined his life. As Maryada Purushottam, Lord Ram stands as an eternal inspiration for ideal living across ages.
Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati Ji said that the life of Lord Shri Ram is an open scripture for humanity, guiding us to walk the path of dharma in every situation. Despite being the prince of Ayodhya, he renounced the throne, comforts, and luxuries to honor his father’s word by accepting exile. This sacrifice is a timeless example of duty, integrity, and unwavering commitment to dharma.
Lord Ram’s courage was not limited to the battlefield; it was equally reflected in his patience and self-restraint. During the challenging years of exile, he faced countless hardships without losing balance. Even after the abduction of Mata Sita, he chose not to act in anger, but moved forward with wisdom, patience, and strategy, ultimately choosing the path of righteous war. This teaches us that true victory is built on patience and wisdom, even in adversity.
Lord Ram’s compassion and sense of equality are extraordinary. His love and respect for Nishadraj, Shabari, Hanuman, and the Vanara army reflect his vision of seeing divinity in every being. This embodies the essence of Sanatan Dharma — “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family).
His life is also a symbol of ideal leadership. Ram Rajya represents not just governance, but a vision of justice, equality, righteousness, and prosperity, where every individual is respected, safe, and treated fairly.
Today, it is essential to bring Lord Ram’s ideals into our lives — to uphold righteousness, embrace truth, nurture values within families, and promote harmony and unity in society.
On this auspicious occasion, let us all take a pledge to embody the ideals of Lord Ram and contribute towards building a strong, cultured, and harmonious society and nation.
Jai Shri Ram!
